We have a customized set of tools and machines that enable users to make and easily replicate designs made by other members of the network. FabLab Winam is a community, open-access laboratory and a hub of knowledge-share, skills and digital fabrication, empowering the community (creative fabricators, artists, scientists, engineers, educators, students, amateurs, and professionals of all ages); through local and distributed manufacturing, research, and education. We uphold a culture of making, collaboration, creativity, and localization. We are located in Kisumu, Kenya serving innovators in the entire country but mostly those around the Lake Basin Region.

Designed and fabricated at FabLab Winam, Taka Bikes (also known as Mzigo Bikes) are innovative waste collection bicycles. In partnership with Mtala, we delivered these bikes to simplify and improve waste collection in communities. Building on this success, we are now exploring the next step: transforming them into e-bikes for even greater efficiency and impact.
