IMA is dedicated to strengthening hardware maker innovation ecosystems and enhancing research capacities across Kenya, Ghana and South Africa. We strengthen our research capacity to show our impact effectively, adopt the use of fabrication tools such as 3-D printers to come up with innovative solutions in healthcare sector. Some of products that we produce includes writing aid to help individuals with weaker limbs be able to write effectively, test-tube rack to be used in laboratories and tibial fracture fixation models to be used by orthopedic students for practical use. The project provides access to business model catalogue that can makerspaces and innovation hubs to grow and thrive.
The project incorporates environmental learning by providing how STEM can help solve environmental problems such as climate change. Learners were provided with hands-on practical activities including assembling of all the solar components together (Batteries, charge controller, inverter and solar panel) and coming up with projects that can use the source of energy. They are also linked to mentors who encourage them to take up STEM related subjects and careers.
ABLE is a global collaborative Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics learning community of middle and secondary school students. Learners collaborate with their peers globally, coming up with STEM projects and content through digital materials.
